Frequently asked questions

What are the available book sizes?

You can choose between two different sizes once you have uploaded your PDF to our site.
The most popular size is A5 - 5.8 in (W) x 8.3 in (H), 148 mm (W) x 210 mm (H). This is both portable and easy to read.
Secondly, we can produce books in A4 size - 8.3 in (W) x 11.7 in (H), 210 mm (W) x 297 mm (H). This is twice the size of A5 and is the size of a full sheet of paper. It is easier to read but less portable.
All our books are, of course, printed double sided.

How are the books bound?

We offer two types of binding - perfect (also known as heat or thermal) and spiral (also know as wire).
Perfect binding is just like a book. It is secured by glue inside a cover. The books come with a transparent front cover and a white card back cover.
Spiral binding is stronger than perfect binding and has the advantage of lying completely flat and being able to be turned back on itself. It is held together with white wire binding. It also comes with a transparent front cover and a white card back cover.

What is the maximum number of pages I can have in my PDF?

Your PDF can have any number of pages. However, our largest binder holds about 450 pages (225 sheets). If you upload a document with more than 450 pages we will split the document into more than one binder.

How long will it take for my book to get to me?

Our office is open 9.30 to 5.00 BST Monday to Friday. We dispatch all orders within 12 hours of receiving them. Orders received before 12 noon will be sent out that day, orders received after 12 noon will go the following day. We send you an automatic email as soon as we have started working on your order.
We send all orders by first class post using the Royal Mail. They aim to deliver most First Class mail by the next working day, including Saturdays to the UK. For orders outside the UK it usually takes four to six working days to reach Western Europe and seven to ten working days to the rest of the world.

How do you calculate what it will cost me to print a PDF myself?

Of course we really can't give a completely accurate price for what it will cost you to print your own PDF. There are many variables, such as:
  • What sort of printer you have
  • What sort of toner or ink you use
  • Whether you buy standard or extra large ink cartridges
  • How much it costs you to buy paper
  • Whether you print in colour or black and white
  • Whether the document you are printing is all text, has a lot of photos or has a lot of blank pages
However, we are confident that an estimate of about per page in ink and paper will be accurate for the vast majority of people. Our message is: if the document you want to print is more than 100 pages long it will probably be cheaper for us to print it for you. You won?t run out of ink either!
Also you will end up with a bound book and not a pile of loose-leaf pages.

Do you print in colour?

No. We print in very high quality black and white. People who need a PDF printed do so primarily because they only want to read the text. The photos in the books that we produce are in black and white and are still of excellent quality. We supply bound books where the text is totally legible and all pictures will be very clear.

What happens if I don't have the PDF yet?

You can usually find a downloadable PDF on the website of the manufacturer of your equipment.

What happens if my book never arrives?

If your book has not arrived after about 14 days please contact us, quoting your order number and explain that the book never arrived. We will send a replacement free of charge.

Can I cancel my order?

If, for whatever reason, you decide you do not want the printed book once you have received it you can return it to us for a 100% refund. Firstly, email us, then return the book to us within 30 days of your order for a full refund.

Do you keep my PDFs?

We keep your PDFs for 30 days after your order is placed. This is to allow us to replace your order if it gets lost in the post. After 30 days we automatically delete your PDF from our system. If you want more copies of your PDF printed after 30 days you will need to upload it to us again.

How can I contact you?

You can either email us at support@print-my-pdf.com or call us on 01707 273773. Someone will be available to answer your calls from 9.30 to 5.00 Monday to Friday BST. If you call you will always speak to a human being.
